When God Ran!

I love to hunt fort treasure. I can remember when we'd pack up the car and drive the 2 or 3 hour trip to grandpa and grandma's house, as  soon as we tumbled out of the car, my brother Brad and I would head across the street to the 'desert' and search for hidden treasure. I don't remember what nuggets I found there, but I remember loving the hunt! I still go hunting for treasure...garage sales, flea markets...and then I paint, fix and embellish until voila...something newish and beautiful appears!

I don't know about eternal pleasures at His right hand...the latter part of Psalm 16:11, I was kind of avoiding it, thinking it is about Heaven, and sounds really great, but oh so far off. But of course, as I was praying this morning, He challenged that thought. I was pondering what a treasure He is. And really, since I began the blog, and have been more consistent with the time I spend with him, I am beginning to experience little daily treasures. I've had a couple of nudges in my spirit this past week, and I listened to them, and they turned out to be Him, guiding me, saving me time, or providing a practical need. I could easily have missed those and gone about my way, what a loss for me. Clearly He cares about the little details of my day. Also, several times this week as I've read the bible, devotionals, & books, I have come across the same verse at least twice. I consider that His way of getting my attention and so I focus in on what those verses are saying. And the way He's been showing me the path for my business has been exciting and amazing to me. It just dawned on me, as I was praying, what an inexhaustible treasure He is. Seeking Him is the ultimate treasure hunt! And the treasures never cease. Not only that, His treasures are the kind that really count. Feeling loved, wanted, belonging to something greater than myself, communion, connection, peace, joy, spiritual awareness, wisdom, understanding...everything we long for as those who house a spirit, soul and body! Whether we realize it or not...this is the treasure we are all seeking. And this is what eternal pleasures at His right hand are all about. We cannot help but experience the vast treasure of all that He is as we spend time in His presence...and the pleasure and treasure of that will only increase as long as we live and then throughout eternity.

Our Father is not a stoic God who sits on a cloud and points out all the things we do wrong. Our Father is a loving daddy, who wants to wrap us up in His arms and share His treasure chest of hope, love and joy with us! In the story of the prodigal son...a picture of the Father's love toward us...He ran. When He saw His wayward son coming home...He ran to him. Is that the God I picture in my mind? A loving Father who is so excited to see me that He runs with open arms when I come and sit down in the morning to spend time with Him. Oh Father, let us truly comprehend how much you long for us. And how excited you are to share the treasures of who you are with us. Let us experience your embrace in a profound way. Please break through the barriers and beliefs that prevent me from knowing you as my Abba, Papa, Daddy! I am leaving you with a beautiful song, called, God Ran, by Phillips, Craig, and Dean.
